Vice President, Communications & Marketing

Job Description

BioMed Realty is currently seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Communications and Marketing Leader. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and demonstrated success in leadership roles within the communications and marketing field. This role requires a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization, with particular expertise in executive-level communication. The successful candidate will have a track record of developing and executing effective strategies, plans, and tactics that deliver measurable and sustainable results. Additionally, they must possess strong team-building skills, the ability to distill complex information into clear messages, and a talent for fostering trust and collaboration. This position offers a hybrid work model, which includes 4 days in office and 1 day remotely. Hybrid work may be modified based on the needs of the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and leading the implementation of innovative communications and marketing strategies that align with the company's strategic goals and enhance the company's brand reputation, market presence and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborating with leasing, marketing, development, ESG and executive teams to align and integrate communication and marketing strategies with business goals and objectives, ensuring consistency and impact across all channels.
  • Leading the company's media relations efforts, including approving press releases, managing press inquiries and building media relationships in the real estate sector.
  • Establishing and nurturing effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment across the organization and enhance the company's leasing efforts and market presence.
  • Directing crisis communication planning and response, maintaining the company's reputation in challenging situations.
  • Spearheading internal communications strategies and tactics in partnership with our People team that foster a values driven, positive corporate culture and engaged employee base.
  • Providing strategic guidance on the use of social media and digital platforms for corporate messaging and brand positioning.
  • Evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of communications and marketing strategies and tools, leveraging data and analytics to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Providing visionary leadership to the communications and marketing teams, fostering excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum of ten years of relevant/comparable industry experience
  • Demonstrated success in taking complex issues and ideas and translating them into practical, understandable, and digestible messages for multiple audiences.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and guide teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with a deep understanding of real estate market dynamics and customer behavior.
  • Outstanding communications (both written and verbal), media relations, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong crisis management skills, with experience handling sensitive issues effectively.
  • Sustained history of engaging, advising and influencing high-level stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with creative approach to problem-solving and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Real Estate or related field required; Advanced degree a plus.

Salary Range: $215,000 - $268,000 per year + bonus + long term incentive + benefits
