Roles and Responsbilities – the VP, Community Health Equity will be responsbile for:

  • Advancing the organizational imperative for adopting and implementing an Anchor Mission that address the complex social, economic, and structural determinants of health including structural racism, economic depravation, substandard housing, violence, and a failing school system;
  • Identifying health inequities as a problem and understand and name root causes around economic and racial inequities in community;
  • Partnering with community stakeholders in implementing anchor strategies;
  • Building evidence of the impact of these strategies and assessing our progress through a yearly data collection process;
  • Developing a shared policy and advocacy agenda around addressing upstream determinants of health;
  • Implementing anchor strategies around inclusive, local hiring and internal workforce development; place-based investing; and inclusive, local purchasing; and,
  • Leveraging internal and external philanthropy to catalyze other anchor strategies.
  • Partner and coordinate activities with Healthy Alabama 2030: Live HealthSmart initiatives


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required : Master's degree in business administration or similar degree and a minimum of five years of progressive responsibility at a managerial level.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills and extensive experience leading in the process of ongoing strategic planning
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams in a changing environment
  • Knowledge, experience and ability to manage complex information and organizational systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, as well as all levels of internal and external program constituents; experienced in the supervision of administrative and support staff personnel, as well as professional staff
  • Ability to provide initiative, judgment and creativity in the resolution of complex problems
  • Extensive experience in public speaking and public relations; exceptional communication/presentation skills and a proven track record of forming collaborative and effective working relationships with faculty, community partners, and staff at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to establish realistic and achievable priorities, to lead teams to achieve those project objectives, and develop metrics to determine and report progress in achieving those goals
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, preferably including experience developing and implementing public-private partnerships to achieve community-wide social and economic goals
