The Opportunity:

    In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

    Location: San Diego, CA

    Shift: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm

    What we're looking for

    • Education: High school diploma required; BS Degree in Science or BA preferred
    • Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience in a lab environment preferred
    • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
    • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality
    • Strong process optimization skills and scientific troubleshooting skills
    • Communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
    • Requires knowledge in using various instruments to prepare for and perform tests
    • Must be flexible, forward-thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independently
    • Able to lift to 35lbs minimum

    Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

    In this role you will:

    • Morning lab preparation
    • HPLC Solvent preparation and refilling.
    • NMR support
    • Solvent ordering and delivering
    • Provide basic operating training on common laboratory equipment.
    • Aide in obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, following up with vendors for laboratory, office and facilitate equipment, goods and consumables. Will also be ordering items, direct orders from vendors.
    • Ensure hazardous and biohazardous materials are correctly handled and stored.
    • Maintain and monitor dry ice usage. Support monitoring of cold storage through software systems.
    • Support upkeep of common lab areas and SOP creation and validation.
    • Provide back-up support to ensure shipments are received, processed, and recipients notified utilizing package tracking software. Ensure unclaimed packages are properly stored.
    • Support with the organization and preparation of Safety Committee meetings materials, and execution of action items.
    • Direct and account for persons during evacuations. Accommodate Operations Manager in completing incident reports.

    Pay Transparency:

    The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

    $47,000.00 - $77,000.00

    Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
