Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Enterprise Service Strategy (ESS) within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) provides campus-wide leadership and vision for technology strategy, planning, and adoption. The AVP provides an enterprise view, striving to identify systems and processes that operate outside the enterprise ecosystem and representing potential risk and inefficiencies. As part of this role, the AVP for ESS acts as the primary point of contact for new project ideation with campus leaders. In addition to providing executive-level advisory services, the AVP leads the business process improvement, project management, service assessment, and change management units within DIT. They are also responsible for providing operational awareness, evaluating key services areas, and making recommendations on continuous improvements of IT capabilities for the Division and campus.

The AVP of ESS is also responsible for DIT’s service delivery strategy, including management of the service delivery framework and related processes as well as functional leadership of the technology platforms which deliver those services (e.g., ServiceNow, Salesforce). This includes the development of service life-cycle, assessment, and delivery frameworks. While services are delivered from multiple areas of DIT, the AVP of ESS is responsible for the strategy and framework under which they all operate.

The ESS units provide management consulting services to the breadth of campus, including strategic planning, process improvement, management, consulting, project ideation, project management, organizational analysis and improvement, and service assessment. The AVP is responsible for business development and maintaining a positive P&L line.

Project management responsibilities include management of project ingestion, evaluation, staffing, scoping, and execution of DIT and campus IT projects. The AVP will lead efforts to create transparency on project performance and increase project success. In addition to managing the DIT portfolio of projects, they are responsible for providing external professional services to campus around project definition, planning, and execution.

The business process improvement responsibilities include assessing and making recommendations for improvement to administrative and academic IT-enabled processes across campus. The AVP is responsible for building a plan to support these efforts and leading enterprise-level projects when necessary. They are responsible for establishing a process-focused approach to challenges and provide such services in support for technology implementations.

The change management responsibilities include creating a strategy for, and leading, the change control functions as well as providing organizational analysis and change management services within DIT and across campus. They provide oversight and assessment of service delivery processes, including ideation, operationalization, and disposition. This includes managing the change management processes, service delivery assessment, and service delivery strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters’s Degree
  • 15 years’ experience in the IT industry.
  • 8 years IT leadership or management experience
  • 5 years leading a professional services consulting group
  • 5 years IT experiencing leading change and reengineering efforts
  • 5 years IT experience running enterprise-wide projects
  • Demonstrated experience with staff development and oversight
  • Experience with organizational-level strategy development


  • Advanced Degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Organization Change Management experience
  • Knowledge of Change Control Board functions and procedures
  • Significant experience in higher education

Additional Information:

Salary range is in the low to mid $200ks.
